Our Sydney, Australia data center (SYD1) is open!

We’re excited to announce that our newest state-of-the-art data center in Sydney, Australia (SYD1) is open for business! Starting today, you can spin up Droplets, Kubernetes clusters, or any of your favorite products in the SYD1 data center. Sydney marks our first data center in the southern hemisphere and expands our global footprint to 15 data centers across 9 regions around the world.  The new data center serves a growing market The cloud computing market in Australia is growing rapidly, and SYD1 makes it easier for developers, startups, and SMBs in and around Australia and New Zealand to get the best performance from DigitalOcean. SYD1 also makes it easier for global businesses to provide superior experiences to their end customers in this region. Performance tests have shown an average of 6x reduction in round trip time latency for customers using the Sydney data center services from major cities in Australia when compared to those using DigitalOcean’s Singapore data center.
